march 2009
march 25 2009 13:49 pdt cold and rainy bleah. also united airlines bleah.
march 19 2009 13:51 pdt this is the week that all the cherry trees in eugene burst into bloom. pink and white flowers everywhere. it's doubly dramatic, because none of the deciduous trees have leafed out yet- so lots of skeletal bare branches everywhere and then pow! a tree all wrapped in bright pink blossoms. the star magnolias are starting to bloom also- probably worth a trip back to the rose garden to see if that big magnolia is flowering yet. the tulips in our front yard are all starting to flower this week too- if the sun ever comes out, i'll take some pictures of spring happening and post them.
march 16 2009 23:36 pdt it took almost the whole week for us to get caught up from the time change. it's light outside now until almost eight- although in this case 'light' is not at all the same thing as 'sunny.' it's turning into one of those classic oregon weeks where the weather forecast is 80% chance of rain every day for the next 10 days and i'm just happy that it's not snow.
mom came out for about ten days and made our lives much easier. in fact, it was so much easier with her here that after i dropped her at the airport, when i came back home we just sort of... stared at each other for a bit. p said, 'i still have four hours of work to do today.' i said, 'but i still have four hours of work to do today...' sigh. not a good time of year to be a tax accountant or a third-year law student i guess. but we still have lasagna in the fridge and the tulips are starting to open in the front yard- thanks mom.
all my bar exam application materials are due at the end of this month. all the 3Ls are especially on edge this year because a. most of us don't have jobs, b. most of us have school loans that immediately start to come due after graduation, but even those of us with law jobs can't start to practice until we pass the bar, and c. lots of us still have to actually pass the classes we're in now to graduate on time. the legal job market is a total wasteland right now, so that's making everyone extra-fun to be around.
but we'll just keep plugging along for the time being. and every day i get the satisfaction of knowing that my kid will still smile at me when I give him the raspberries on his fat little belly...
