february 21 2009 16:04 pst busy busy busy. once the small business clinic kicked in, i just didn't have a whole lot of time left for anything else. but last weekend i did take a day off to go play in the snow, for the first time this winter. and as february draws to a close, we're having some great spring weather now in eugene- it's mid-to-high 50s during the day, usually staying above freezing at night. all of the daffodils are up and getting ready to bloom, the tulips have two leaves out, the forsythias are already flowering, and all of the little bushes and vines are leafing out like they think it's already april.
i know better. last year we had frost in may that did quite a bit of damage to the early plants- it was low 20s overnight for a couple of days in a row. killed all of my tomato starts (and just about everybody else's too for that matter). so this year i'm resisting the urge to plant vegetables already, because it's really only the last week of february.
david scared us a bit this week- he had a bad reaction to something he ate at daycare. we're unsure whether it was the rice cereal or something he picked up from one of his friends, but he had some fairly vigorous projectile vomiting for an hour or so. he snapped out of it later that afternoon, and by the time we got him to the doctor that night, he was back to his happy gurgley self.
dad comes to visit this week, and mom is coming out next week. it should be a big help to have them here for a couple of days so that we can try to plow on through the next two weeks of chaos.
